In the seventies and eighties, I was a student at Elgin Street Public School in Ottawa, Ontario and it was there my love of reading and writing began with the support of the amazing teachers I had, so I dropped off some copies of Samantha’s Sandwich Stand at my old school. It was wonderful to step in the hallways again and remember the hardworking and kind teachers who inspired me many years ago. I struggled with reading as a child and it was through the compassion and patience of my teachers that I overcame and became the writer I am today. I will never forget their kindness. Many thanks to them and to all the extraordinary teachers out there!
